Looking for an exciting, enriching, and educational way to keep your child active and engaged this summer? Janesville Elementary, in partnership with the Lassen County Office of Education, has announced the return of its highly anticipated Summer Expanded Learning Opportunities Program.
The program offers six weeks of fun-filled educational adventures specifically designed for local students entering Transitional Kindergarten through 6th grade. Notably, incoming TK and Kindergarten students for the upcoming 2026/2027 school year are fully eligible to attend, giving them a fantastic head start on their school experience.
Recognizing the hectic nature of summer scheduling, organizers have designed the program with maximum flexibility in mind. Families can register their children on a week-by-week basis, making it incredibly convenient to fit camp attendance around planned family road trips, outdoor activities, and summer vacations.
Each of the six planned weeks centers around a distinct theme featuring hands-on learning experiences, creative crafts, outdoor exploration, and plenty of opportunities for students to build lasting friendships while continuing to sharpen their academic and social skills throughout the summer months.
This year’s exciting weekly themes include:
- July 6 – July 10: History and STEM Camp
- July 13 – July 17: Fairy Tales and Mythical Creatures
- July 20 – July 24: Build It!
- July 27 – July 31: Space & STEM
- August 3 – August 7: Adventure and Outdoor Camp
- August 10 – August 14: Super Heroes
The program operates daily, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., providing an excellent, structured environment for working parents. To fully support participating families, breakfast, lunch, and snacks are provided to every student each day at no extra cost.
Parents are reminded to ensure their children come prepared for daily activities. Campers should bring a water bottle, sunscreen, a positive attitude ready for learning, and appropriate clothing to comfortably accommodate both outdoor play and water activities.
Important Registration Deadline: To guarantee that proper food portions are secured and enough educational supplies are ordered for everyone, families are strongly encouraged to submit their sign-ups by Thursday, June 4th.
