JH Heating Weather: LMUD Outage and Storm Update

Crews are attempting to island with HLP to restore power. No estimate of restoration time at this point. More info as it becomes available.


Lassen Municipal Utility District is currently experiencing a system-wide outage. According to the utility’s Energy Services Manager Theresa Phillips PG&E has lost both main transmission lines feeding LMUD. No estimated time of restoration.

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow and gusty winds remains in effect until 10:00p.m. this evening…

A final round of moderate to heavy snow will continue into Sunday evening. 

Additional snow accumulations: above 4500 feet… 1 to 2 feet west of Highway 395 with 6 to 12 inches east of Highway 395. The highest totals will occur along Highway 89 and near Yuba and Fredonyer passes where 2 to 3 feet is likely.

Winds: south to southwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.

Periods of heavy snow and strong winds will lead to whiteout conditions and lengthy travel delays. Travelers should consider a secondary route to avoid mountain passes this weekend. Back country activities are not advised.
