JH Heating Weather: National Weather Service Issues Advisory

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory

Meteorological experts at the National Weather Service office in Reno have issued a Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 10:00p.m. this evening to 10:00p.m. on Wednesday…

According to the weather service snow will develop late this evening with a period of moderate to heavy snow mainly west of Highway 395 overnight into early Wednesday morning. Snow showers will continue throughout the day on Wednesday, tapering off late in the evening.

Snowfall totals expected in the next 36 hours range from 6 to 12 inches on the ground west of Highway 395 with highest accumulations along and west of Highway 89, and along highways 36 and 44 west of Susanville. East of Highway 395… 2 to 4 inches are expected.

Winds are expected to pick up in advance of the cold front late this afternoon, with gusts up to 50mph and we should start seeing the snow stick on the valley floor early this evening.

Snow will produce slick driving conditions along most highways in northeast California. Travel over passes may become difficult with chain controls possible.
