JH Heating Weather: NWS Winter Weather Advisory

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 1:00p.m. Wednesday to 4:00a.m. Thursday…

According to the folks at the NWS a strong cold front will move through Lassen County Wednesday afternoon and evening with snow behind the front. The heaviest period of snow will be Wednesday evening.

Snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches are expected west of Highway 395, with 1 to 3 inches forecast east of Highway 395.

Snow level early in the storm will be 5,500 feet but by early evening it should be down to the valley floors. Snow will create slick driving conditions across Lassen and eastern Plumas counties late Wednesday afternoon and Wednesday night.

The weather service warns that snow is expected to pose an inconvenience to travelers as roads become slick and hazardous… with snow and ice first developing on bridges and overpasses. Motorists should slow down and use caution.
