STUDENT EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM CAREER ASSISTANT
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma and passage of the CODESP Test, 48 semester units of college credit, or an A.A. Degree. Valid California Driver’s License. One year of experience working with special needs students desired. Ability to make presentations regarding business industry competencies and job attainment skills. Ability to work cooperatively with and coordinate the services of other community agencies; e.g., Department of Rehabilitation, Transition Partnership Program.
Maintains confidentiality by not releasing any information regarding students, parents/guardians, or staff.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare and make presentations regarding job readiness, interview skills, work place vocabulary, work ethics, and personal hygiene. Facilitate and coordinate student and staff access to the services of other agencies, e.g., Department of Rehabilitation, Transition Partnership program. Supervise students during on-campus and off-campus activities. Other duties as required by contract with the WorkAbility I, Transition Partnership Program, and any other job development-related programs. Drive a vehicle to school sites throughout the county, may also transport students. Receive and respond to WorkAbility/TPP student referrals; assess student needs, interests, and abilities to determine appropriate career goals and possible placement. Monitor student progress at work locations, conduct follow-up and job shadowing, post-employment services with employers and students. Assist individual disabled students with developing vocational and job-related skills; determine if students are work-ready; confer with students regarding employment opportunities, work ethics, and vocational skill development; provide career and job-related advisement. Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Salary:
$19.50 per hour. 8 hours per day. 12 months. Medical, dental, and vision insurance provided for employee and family. Cap in place.
