The official numbers are in and once again the community has shown tremendous support of the 4-H and FFA at the annual Jr. Livestock Auction held Sunday, July 21st, at the Lassen County Fair.
Sales at the event included; 21 Market lambs at $50,831.70; 6 Market Goats for $8,153.50; 15 Market Steers for a total of $102,121.75; 1 Dairy Steer which fetched $5,780.00; 9 Rabbit Meat Pens at $6,825.00 and 48 Pigs totaling $111,276.15.
4H and FFA members sold $284,988.10 worth of livestock at the auction.
Safeway purchased the Grand Champion Market lamb, which was exhibited by Ethan Shaw from Johnstonville 4-H, for $28.00/lbs.
Susanville Supermarket IGA bought the Reserve Grand Champion lamb from Brock Wolf of Susanville FFA for $22.00/lbs.
The Grand Champion Market Goat was shown by Paige Parker from Richmond 4-H and sold to Idaho Butcher Shop and the CHP 140 club for $28.00/lbs.
Shelby Talley, also from Richmond 4-H, raised the Reserve Grand Champion Market Goat which was sold to Safeway for $17.00/lbs.
Jack Mallery from Richmond 4-H sold The Grand Champion Market Steer. This steer, that received the Lassen County Cattlemen’s Local Best Bred and Fed Award, sold to Hat Creek Construction for $6.25/lbs.
The Reserve Grand Champion Steer, owned by Maddi Johnson from Milford 4-H, sold to the Weston Ranch for $6.25/lbs.
The Champion Dairy Steer was exhibited by Elena German from Susanville FFA and sold for $4.25/lbs. to AXIA Home Loans.
Dersch Apiaries bought the Champion rabbit meat pen from Abigail Vincent from Richmond 4-H for $1,200. The Reserve Champion meat pen was also raised by a Richmond 4-H member.
Molly Dickson sold her meat pen to Tri Counties for $1,000.00.
The Grand Champion Market hog was raised by Blaine Wolf from Johnstonville 4-H and sold to Banner Lassen Medical Center for $21.00/lbs.
The Reserve Grand Champion market hog was raised by Hailey Montgomery from Susanville FFA and was purchased by the Weston Ranch for $20.00/lbs.
Hat Creek Construction raised all lamb prices to $14.00 and Singleton and Auman raised all lamb prices to $15.10.
Mt. Lassen Buyers Group raised all goat prices to $13.50.
Edward Jones raised all beef prices to $4.42, Fred and Theresa Nagel raised all beef prices to $4.65, Red Bluff Bull and Gelding Sale and Shasta Livestock raised all beef prices to $5.00 and Plumas Sierra Rural Electric raised all beef prices to $5.05.
Helena Agri-Enterprises donated $100 per beef animals.
Buckin’ Bunnies and Reveille Rabbitry raised all meat pen prices to $700, Mt. Lassen Buyers raised all meat pen prices to $725.
Mt. Lassen Buyers Group raised all swine prices to $6.50/lbs CHP 140 Club raised all swine prices to $6.90/lbs and Ken and Kathryn Wemple raised all swine prices to $7.00/lbs.
