Kaitlyn Midgely has been honored as this year’s Cowbelle of the Year by the Lassen County Cattlewomen, with ceremonies at both the California Cattlemen/Cattlewomen’s convention in Reno, on December 5th, and again at the Lassen County Cattlewomen’s annual Christmas party on December 13th.

Midgely was presented with an engraved, custom made silver cowbell necklace and floral bouquet in a western boot vase at the group’s November membership meeting. At the convention’s Cowbelle of the Year luncheon in Reno she was presented with a silver cuff bracelet alongside honorees from other counties.

At the December 13th Christmas party, outgoing President, and 2023 Cowbelle of the Year recipient, Dianne Parady, said this about Midgely:

“I am so proud to honor our Lassen County 2024 Cowbelle of the Year, Kaitlyn Midgley. Her leadership and dedication truly illuminate the lives of everyone around her. Kaitlyn was born in San Diego and raised in Lassen County, she developed a profound connection to her community and a deep love for animals.

“As a young girl, she eagerly participated in 4-H and FFA, proudly showing her sheep and pigs at the Lassen County Fair. In high school, she truly came into her own, taking on roles like ASB Student Body President, Cheer Captain, and Vice President of FFA.

“It was during these formative years that she discovered her passion for service and her remarkable ability to inspire others.

“Kaitlynā€™s journey then led her to SeaWorld San Diego, where she shone on stage as a presenter. This experience paved the way for her leadership role at the world-renowned San Diego Zoo Safari Park, where she trained animals, led live shows, and contributed to marketing efforts.

“This position allowed her to connect with people and share her knowledge about animals, showcasing her exceptional communication and educational skills.

“After working diligently, Kaitlyn earned her Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from Oregon State University. Her marriage to Jesse Midgley brought her back to Susanville, where she feels most at home.

“Kaitlyn is actively involved with the Lassen County Cattlewomen and the Rotary Club, where she volunteers and gives back to the community. Her innovative spirit and commitment to fostering a sense of belonging are truly inspiring.

“What we admire most about Kaitlyn is her genuine kindness and compassion. She has a unique ability to uplift those around her, making everyone feel valued and included. Her tireless work ethic, often putting in over 80 hours a week, reflects her deep commitment to making a positive impact in her community.

“We are so honored to select Kaitlyn Midgley as Lassen Counties 2024 Cowbelle of the Year!”
