Lassen County District Attorney Stacey Montgomery announced Friday that six felony charges, concerning Perjury and Voter Registration Fraud, have been filed against Lassen County Assessor Daniel Schlueter. The charges, according to a brief statement issued by the D.A.’s office, relate back to the 2014 general election in which Schlueter ran unopposed.
“After a thorough investigation by the Lassen County Sheriff,” Montgomery said Friday, “the District Attorney’s Office has filed charges against local Lassen County Assessor Daniel Schlueter.”
“The investigation has revealed that Mr. Schlueter was not a resident of Lassen County when he filed papers to run for office. He was, therefore, ineligible to run for elected office in Lassen County.”
Schlueter ran without opposition in the 2014 general election, asserting on his official candidacy statement that his address was at 462-785 Rainbow Drive, in Westwood.
According to the District Attorney’s Office, Schlueter, “continues to reside outside of Lassen County,” and is charged with five felony counts of Perjury and one felony count of Voter Registration fraud.
