Lassen Board of Supervisors Lodges Fuel Price Complaint with State Agencies

In a letter dated December 10th, the Lassen County Board of Supervisors sent a complaint of ‘non-competitive practices’ to both Governor Gavin Newsome and Attorney General Rob Bonta, for what they say amounts to price fixing on the part of local gas stations.

“We write to express our concern and to file a complaint with you regarding high gasoline and diesel fuel prices in the City of Susanville in comparison to lower fuel prices in distant unincorporated communities of Westwood, Janesville, Herlong and Chester California,” the letter begins.

“We urge you to investigate whether fueling stations inside the city may be engaging in non-competitive practices to fix prices.”

The letter is signed by Board Chairman Aaron Albaugh and copies were sent to Megan Dahle, Heather Hadwick and the Susanville City Council.

On social media, Lassen District 5 Supervisor Jason Ingram encouraged anyone affected by the pricing to file a complaint.

“I was informed there is a place to file a complaint on the state’s Attorney General’s website,” said Ingram. “I urge everyone to file a complaint.”

Ingram said that he wanted to make sure that the public is aware that the board takes the ‘price gouging’ seriously and that they acted on it.
