Diamond Mountain has officially waved goodbye to its last patch of snow, which means it’s time for the Lassen College Foundation to crown its winner for the 2026 Diamond Mountain Snow Melt Contest.
Misty Mann correctly guessed that the last visible snow would melt away on June 29th. This year’s winter snowpack didn’t even stick around long enough to see the month of July!
When asked why she chose June 29th, Misty shared that it is her wedding anniversary—making the date worth celebrating for more than one reason.
Supporting Local Students
The annual contest is a community tradition that serves a fantastic cause. Half of all the proceeds raised from entry tickets directly support scholarships for Lassen College students, while the other half goes home with the lucky winner.
The Lassen College Foundation extended its gratitude to everyone who participated this year, helping to support local students while joining in on some local community fun.
Looking Ahead to 2027
If you didn’t win this time around, don’t worry—Mother Nature will give Susanville residents another chance next year. Keep an eye out in January 2027 when the foundation will officially kick off the 2027 Diamond Mountain Snow Melt Contest. (LCC Foundation photo)
