Looking for a career in fire technology? Wildland Fire Suppression provides training in the use of fire suppression tools and experience on the cooperative working relationship of a wildland fire suppression crew.
Students will learn the responsibility of a fire crewperson, safe working habits, hand tools and fire pumps, map and compass, tool maintenance, pumping operations and safety, wildland fire tactics, mop-up activities, fireline construction, fireline location and radio use.
The course, officially called FS-8-M3540 Wildland Fire Suppression, will run on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from January 17th through March 13th.
Classes will be held from 8:00 to 11:00a.m. and the course will be a total of 68 hours, which equals 2.0 units of credit.
