The Lassen County Arts Council is celebrating year-three of their Community Art Event at the Lassen County Fair with a new twist. “While we have retired The Art of Wild Horses, we are introducing our newest display, the Gold Miner,” explains Arts Council Board Treasurer Roxanna Haynes.
The newly designed cut-outs, just waiting for your artistic touch, came from the California Correction Center, who donated inmate time to cutout the plywood Gold Miners.
“This is the third year Lassen County Arts Council has received their support and it is instrumental in the success of this project,” said Haynes, “We don’t have the resources to cutout 26 gold miners so we are appreciative of their efforts.”
Gold miner adopters can be businesses, families, clubs, service organizations or anyone interested in participating in a community art event. All of the decorated entries will be on display at the Lassen County Fair, July 15th through the 19th.
A People’s Choice award for favorite Gold Miner will be awarded on Sunday July 19th.
According to Haynes the purpose of the art event is to engage the community and local businesses in an art project and to raise funds that will assist the LCAC in bringing workshops, performances, and special guests to the community.
“With this project the Arts Council’s goal is to bring the community together and celebrate the design and creativity of local organizations, individuals, families, and local businesses,” Haynes explained.
Gold Miners are $50 to adopt and Corral Sponsorships are available for $50. You can contact the gallery for more information at (530) 257-5222.
