Knights of Columbus Wednesday Night Bingo. 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., dinner, 6:30 pm early bird bingo, 7:00 p.m., regular bingo games. LMUD Annual Customer Appreciation BBQ! They will be serving jumbo, 1/4lb hot dogs from 11:30am to 1:00pm at the LMUD office located at 65 S. Roop Street. Customers can enter to win one of three LMUD energy gift cards!

Lassen Lit Rocks holds free adult reading classes every Tuesday and Thursday from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m. Tuesday’s classes are held at the Lassen Library and Thursday’s classes are held at Shaffer School. For more information please call the library at 530-257-7471.

Westwood Bingo is every Thursday night at 125 Birch St., in Westwood. $10 per ten pack of cards, $1 Quickie games and $1 Early Bird Game.

Lassen Family Services Parenting Group 9:30 – 10:30 pm at Lassen Family Services, 1306 Riverside Dr. Parenting Group classes are designed to help reduce chaos and power struggles within families. Learn an approach to parenting that is both simple and effective. All classes are free but space is limited. Please contact Heather at 530-257-4599 for more information.

Saturday, September 9
Plumas National Forest will be sponsoring a Children’s Fishing Derby at Antelope Lake featuring fishing contests, prizes, arts and crafts, educational and cultural activities and snacks. The event is for kids under the age of 15 and is co-sponsored by the Department of Water Resources, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and Royal Elk Park Management. Registration for the free fishing derby is at 8:00a.m. at the Lost Cove boat ramp. If you are fishing in a location other than the boat ramp you can register at 7:45 at Lost Cove and then drive to your fishing spot. Only non-motorized boats will be allowed during the derby. Honey Lake Valley Riders – Horse Show and Play day is from 8:00 – 5:00 p.m. at the Janesville Park. Horse shows start at 8:00 am. For horse show classes, visit honeylakevalleyriders.org for an information flyer. Play days start at 2:00 pm and include barrels, poles, and two other fun classes. Monday, September 11
Susanville City Fire Chief James Moore is inviting the public to join the department in a commemoration of the firefighters, paramedics, police officers and other innocent victims whose lives were ended by the tragic terrorist attack of September 11th, 2001. The Susanville Fire Department is joining with remembrances being held all across the country Monday morning. The observance will begin at 6:30a.m. on the lawn at the fire hall at 1505 Main Street.

Just before 7:00 the group will assemble in front of the flagpole, the Honor Guard will present the colors and there will be a moment of silence and a prayer. The ceremony will begin promptly at 7:05a.m.
