The Historic Uptown Susanville Association will host the Annual Safe and Sane Halloween in the uptown district from 3-5pm, on Friday, October 30th. The streets will be closed to thru traffic for safe passage during the event. The event will also include the 2nd Annual Coffin Races, children’s costume contest, and Treats Pet Costume Contest. There have been changes to labor laws that will take effect for the coming year. The Chamber will be ordering 2016 Labor Law posters which feature the required federal and state notices on one poster. They will be available to Chamber members for $30.00 or/ non-member for $40.00 per poster. California businesses are required to post updated employment posters at each place of business. Pre-orders are now being taken; contact the Chamber office at 257-4323 if you would like to have a poster ordered for your business.
The Annual Veteran Day Parade will be held on Wednesday, November 11, beginning at 11am. If your organization or business would like to participate in this year’s parade show up at the Armory Building an hour prior to the parade start time to be included in the line-up.
The Chamber board of directors is accepting applications to fill three board vacancies; the three year board terms will begin in January 2016. Chamber members interested in representing the business community and sharing their time and talents by serving on the board are encouraged to apply. The Board is seeking candidates who have business experience, community involvement, and the desire to represent the interests of the local business community. Stop by the Chamber office or call 257-4323 to receive an application to apply for the vacancies. Applications must be return by Monday, December 7, 2015.
The Susanville Elks invites everyone to come by the lodge for Monday Night Football and Taco Night, held each Monday. The no-host bar opens at 5:30pm, tacos are served beginning at 6pm. Bring the whole family for tacos and a fun evening of watching football on the big screen at the Susanville Elks Lodge.
