Lassen County Public Health and the Tobacco Use Prevention Program are teaming up to host a community event aimed at fostering a healthier future for local families. Titled “Nicotine Free Generation: Educating Parents, Youth and Community,” this free gathering is designed to tackle the growing concerns surrounding nicotine use and the vaping epidemic currently impacting youth within our county.
Scheduled for Thursday, April 30th, the event will take place in the cafeteria at Lassen Community College from 5:30p.m. to 8:00p.m. To make the evening even more accessible for busy families, a complimentary dinner will be provided for all attendees.
Those planning to enjoy the meal are asked to RSVP in advance by emailing [email protected] with the subject line “Free Event RSVP” and the number of people attending.
The evening’s program features an impressive lineup of experts and community voices. The keynote guest speaker is Kimberlee Homer Vagadori, MPH, representing the California Youth Advocates Network. In addition to professional insights, the event will include personal testimonials and interactive table discussions where parents and youth can engage directly with health professionals.
Attendees can expect to dive deep into the physical and mental health risks associated with vaping, the dangers of emerging nicotine devices, and the specific strategies tobacco companies use to target younger generations. Beyond the educational presentations, resource booths will be available to provide families with tangible tools to address and prevent addiction.
For those who are unable to attend the session in person at the college, Lassen County Public Health will be broadcasting the event via Facebook Live on their official page throughout the evening. Whether you are looking for expert advice, seeking help for a family member, or simply want to share your own experiences, this event offers a vital platform for community connection and health advocacy.
