Lassen County Fair Manager Bill Payer has announced a new clear bag policy designed to enhance public safety and expedite the entry process for all fairgoers at this year’s fair, which runs from July 16th through the 20th.
In an effort to provide a secure environment, Fair security will be limiting the size and types of bags permitted during the event. While guests are encouraged to attend without bags to ensure the quickest entry, bags meeting the following specifications will be allowed:
Approved Bags:
- Small bags and/or clutches: 5.5” x 8.5” or smaller
- Clear Fanny Pack: 12″ x 6″ x 12″
- Clear Backpack: 12″ x 6″ x 12″
- Clear Plastic Bags: 12” x 6” x 12”
- Clutch Purse: 3″ x 4″
- 1-Gallon Clear Plastic Storage Bag
Exceptions to the Policy:
- Diaper Bags: Diaper bags will be permitted when accompanied by a guardian and child upon entry and must contain diaper-changing related items. These bags are not subject to the 12”x6”x12” sizing but will be screened prior to entry.
- Medically Necessary Bags: This exception applies only to bags specifically required for medical equipment and accommodations that cannot fit within the small bag or clear bag sizing (e.g., a lunchbox with ice pack for chilled medication, oxygen tank carrier/bag, large bag for a lactation pump). Medical items that can fit into the standard small or clear bag sizes will not qualify for a larger medical bag exception and should be brought in a compliant bag. Examples of items that will not qualify for a larger medical bag exception include, but are not limited to, medication, pill bottles, epi-pens, inhalers, and syringes, if they can fit in a standard approved bag.
All bags, including medically necessary bags and diaper bags, are subject to search and will be screened prior to entry.
Prohibited Bags Include (but are not limited to):
- Backpacks (opaque)
- Purses (non-clutch, larger than 5.5″ x 8.5″)
- Camera Bags/Cases
- Fanny Packs (non-clear)
- Seat Cushions
- Printed Pattern Bags
- Binoculars Cases
- Tinted or Colored Plastic Bags
- Plastic Shopping Bags
- Over-sized Tote Bags
- Folding Lawn Chair Bags
- Any non-clear bag larger than 5.5” x 8.5”
The Lassen County Fair reserves the right to prohibit any item deemed dangerous or unsuitable by Lassen County Fair Security.
