Fathers, grandfather, uncles, coaches, and community mentors from across Lassen County gathered on June 13th, for the inaugural Lassen County Fatherhood Summit. Hosted by the Lassen County Office of Education alongside its community partners, the event was designed to provide encouragement, practical tools, and meaningful connections for local men committed to making a positive difference in the lives of young people.
The summit focused on key values such as leadership, mentorship, respect, community, and legacy—reminding participants that while fathers don’t often feel like heroes, they are a big deal, and the influence of a caring adult can last a lifetime.
Attendees had the unique opportunity to hear from local fathers and community leaders, including Russell Bates, Mitch Lively, Orlando Shannon, and Barney McKee. The speakers shared their personal experiences, lessons learned, and the profound impact that fatherhood has had on their own lives.
“Fathers and father figures from across our community came together for a day of inspiring stories, meaningful conversations, hands-on workshops, great food, fun activities, and exciting prizes,” the Lassen County Office of Education shared in a statement following the event. “Special thanks to our speakers, volunteers, sponsors, and community partners who helped make this event a success. Together, we’re building stronger dads, stronger families, and stronger communities.”
In addition to the impactful stories shared by the guest speakers, the day featured engaging workshops, demonstrations, and interactive activities, offering plenty of opportunities for attendees to network and connect with other dads and mentors from across the region. (LCOE photos)
