Lassen County residents stepped up in a big way this past Friday, as Lassen Family Services and local law enforcement teamed up for their annual “Cram the Cruiser” food and clothing drive. The event, which aimed to restock the LFS community food pantry and donation closet, proved to be a resounding success, drawing generous contributions at four major locations across Susanville.
Between 3:00 and 7:00p.m., personnel from the Susanville Police Department, Lassen County Sheriff’s Office, California Highway Patrol and the Court Appointed Special Advocates program greeted shoppers and accepted donations. By the end of the evening, the combined efforts resulted in a staggering 3,262 items collected and $682 in cash donations.
The support was felt throughout the community at each participating storefront:
Susanville Supermarket IGA: The Susanville Police Department helped collect 1,398 items and $194.
Grocery Outlet: The Lassen County Sheriff’s Office gathered 937 items and $135.
Walmart: Officers from the Susanville office of the California Highway Patrol brought in 714 items and $293.
Safeway: Jennie, Kimber, and Sareena from CASA gathered 213 items and $60.
These contributions come at a critical time for the organization. In 2025 alone, LFS provided 294 food boxes and distributed more than 20,000 clothing and hygiene items. With 25 food boxes and 2,281 items already distributed so far in 2026, the community’s generosity on Friday ensures that the LFS pantry and Community Clothing Closet remain well-equipped to help neighbors facing challenging times.
The donations will directly support the essential food boxes and clothing items provided to families throughout the area.
