The Lassen County Farm Bureau has announced that applications are now open for two distinct scholarship programs aimed at local graduates pursuing careers in agriculture.
If you are a graduating high school senior or a recent graduate planning a future in farming, ranching, agri-business, or agricultural trade skills, the Farm Bureau invites you to apply for the Curt & Joan Moran Scholarship and the Lassen County Farm Bureau & Elliot Dow Scholarship.
The deadline to apply for both opportunities is March 13, 2026.
Here are the details for the available scholarships:
The Curt & Joan Moran Scholarship
This scholarship is designed to support students entering both traditional collegiate programs and trade schools. There are two “tracks” available under this scholarship:
University and Community College Track
Award: One $2,500 scholarship for a student pursuing a bachelor’s degree (4-year program) OR one $1,250 scholarship for a student pursuing an associate degree (2-year program).
- Must be a graduating high school senior who lives in or attended high school in Lassen County.
- Must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
- Must be pursuing a career in agriculture.
Note: Involvement in 4-H and/or FFA is highly desirable for both scholarships.
This scholarship may be reapplied for up to 4 years if the recipient maintains a 2.5 GPA.
Trade and Technical School Track
Award: One $1,000 scholarship.
- Must be a graduating high school senior who lives in or attended high school in Lassen County.
- Must be attending a trade or technical school to learn an agriculturally related trade (such as welding or diesel mechanics).
- Must pursue a career in an ag-related trade, occupation, or business.

Lassen County Farm Bureau & Elliot Dow Scholarship
This scholarship focuses on leadership and commitment to the industry.
This scholarship will be awarded to students graduating from, or who have already graduated from, a Lassen County High School and are pursuing an agriculture or agri-business career.
Awards are based on leadership skills, a demonstrated commitment to the agricultural industry, grades, and financial need.

Completed applications for both scholarships must be mailed or delivered by March 13, 2026.

Selection Process
Finalists for the scholarships will be notified of the date, time, and place for an interview.
Successful applicants will be required to send the Lassen County Farm Bureau a copy of their class schedule from the college they are enrolled in by the end of August. Checks will be awarded in August and September.
