Lassen Fire Safe Council Awards $2,500 Scholarship to LCC Fire Tech Student

Lassen Community College has announced that student Mario Escajeda has been awarded a $2,500 Fire Technology Scholarship, generously provided by the Lassen Fire Safe Council.

The scholarship highlights the ongoing collaboration between the college and local safety organizations to support the next generation of first responders.

LCC’s Fire Technology program is designed to prepare students for demanding careers in both wildland and structural firefighting. Through a curriculum built on hands-on training, industry-recognized certifications, and strong partnerships with local and regional agencies, the program ensures students are workforce-ready upon graduation.

According to the college, scholarships like the one provided by the Fire Safe Council are essential in removing financial barriers. This support allows students like Escajeda to focus entirely on the rigorous training required for the profession.

College officials extended their gratitude to the Lassen Fire Safe Council for their “continued commitment to fire education, workforce development, and community safety in our region,” noting that such support makes a tangible difference for both the students and the community at large.

“Congratulations again, Mario,” the college said in a statement. “We’re excited to see what’s ahead for you!”
