Lassen Fire Safe Council Seeking Proposals for Countywide Defensible Space Program

The Lassen Fire Safe Council has officially opened the bidding process for local contractors to participate in its Countywide Defensible Space Assistance Program.

This initiative is designed to provide critical wildfire protection services to some of Lassen County’s most vulnerable residents.

The program focuses on implementing defensible space treatments for seniors, individuals with disabilities, low-income households and those living in disadvantaged communities.

Project Scope and Requirements
Selected contractors will be responsible for ensuring that eligible homes meet the standards set by California Public Resources Code (PRC) §4291. Work will primarily take place within the 100-foot buffer zone of residential structures.

Typical services include:

  • Vegetation removal and thinning.
  • Tree trimming and pruning.
  • Mowing and raking of dry fuels.
  • Removal and disposal of combustible materials.

How to Submit a Proposal
The LFSC is looking for qualified professionals who are ready to help harden our community against the threat of wildfire. Interested parties must submit their proposals by the following deadline:

Bid Deadline: May 6, 2026, at 5:00p.m.
