Lassen High FBLA Shines at Northern Section Leadership Conference

Students from Lassen High School’s Future Business Leaders of America organization have returned home from a highly successful showing at the FBLA Northern Section Leadership Conference, held January 31st in Wheatland. The event drew a massive field of 320 competitors from across the region, all eager to put their professional skills and academic knowledge to the ultimate test.

According to FBLA Advisor Dawn Egan, the Lassen contingent was a force to be reckoned with. Out of the 48 local students who competed in various events – ranging from Data Science and AI to Sports and Entertainment Management – an impressive 21 members earned a trip to the state level. These students secured their spots by placing in the top six or better in their respective categories.

The qualifying students are now preparing to take their talents to Anaheim, California, where they will represent Susanville at the state-level competition. This achievement marks another chapter in the success of the Lassen FBLA program, which continues to provide local youth with the tools and confidence to excel in the professional world.

Heading to State: The Anaheim-Bound Competitors
The following students distinguished themselves at the sectionals and will be moving on to the next level of competition:

Lassen’s presence in Anaheim will be led by Gaven Mueller, who excelled in Advertising and Sports and Entertainment Management, alongside Parker Langslet, who qualified in Business Communication and Sports and Entertainment Management. The marketing and law sectors will be represented by Keith Hengl, while Marie Giles showed her versatility by qualifying in both Computer Problem Solving and Sales Presentation.

In the high-tech and financial fields, Nellie Ratcliff earned her spot through Data Science, AI, Insurance, and Risk, joined by Kinley Somerville in Agribusiness and Entrepreneurship. Awapuhi Hathaway showcased leadership in Business and Healthcare Administration, while Sienna Ellena and Cicily Tupper stood out in Human Resource Management and International Business.

The roster continues with Jacey Pontarolo and Maya Tomlinson, who both qualified in International Business. Academic excellence in communication was a strong suit for the team, with Arielle Nesheiwat, Taylor Smith-blankenship, and Olivia Langslet all securing state-bound spots in Business Communication and Procedures.

Rounding out the group are Madison Mccracken, qualifying in Business Communication and Real Estate, and Dathen Moore, who excelled in Securities, Investments, and Sports Management. Finally, the team is bolstered by Dalila Heard, Camilla Murray-miller, Brynn Ewing, Hailie Plummer, and Delilah Delgado, all of whom placed highly in their respective events to earn their tickets to Southern California.
