Lassen High School’s Future Business Leaders of America recently returned from a successful trip to Anaheim, where they represented Susanville at the State Leadership Conference from April 9th through the 11th.
According to FBLA advisor Dawn Egan, it was a busy and rewarding weekend for the group of 23 students, who balanced intense competition with leadership development and a bit of Southern California fun.
Competitive Excellence
The conference was a massive event, drawing approximately 3,200 business students from across the state. Despite the stiff competition, several Lassen students earned top honors:
Hailie Plummer: Secured an impressive 8th place finish in the Job Interview category.
Delilah Delgado: Took home 9th place in the Advanced Public Speaking event.
Jacey Pontarolo: Awarded a prestigious $500 State FBLA Scholarship.
Every one of the 23 attending students participated in various events, ranging from formal speaking and presentations to objective testing.
Leadership and Legacy
According to Egan, the trip wasn’t just about the trophies; it was also about growth. Students attended specialized workshops designed to sharpen their leadership and networking skills, preparing them for their future professional lives.
The event also marked a transition for local leadership. During the Northern Section meeting held at the conference, Jacey Pontarolo officially relinquished her position as the Regional Public Relations Officer, concluding her dedicated term of service to the section.
A Magical Conclusion
To celebrate their hard work and accomplishments, the students spent their final day enjoying the sights and sounds of Disneyland before making the trip back home to Susanville.
