Late Thursday afternoon a whirlwind/tornado came through the grocery outlet parking lot and destroyed the Lassen High School Soccer Booster Club’s, Fireworks Booth. Thankfully the volunteer Tessa Langston who was working inside the booth noticed the wind picking up the shopping carts so she jumped out of the booth dragging her dog with her. Within seconds the wind hit the booth, lifting it off the ground and breaking it to pieces. One portion of the booth ended up across Main Street, thankfully missing cars. The Susanville Fire Department was quick on hand to help clean up the broken fireworks and the booth and making sure everyone was safe.
The booth is destroyed but the High School Soccer Booster Club will continue selling, at the Grocery Outlet parking lot. This is the boy’s and girl’s soccer team’s only fundraiser. Many of the fireworks were damaged so there will be a donation jar to help cover what we will not be making. We appreciate our community support.
