Lassen Municipal Utility District this morning is urging customers on its power system to conserve energy. The warning comes as unusually high temperatures are forecast throughout California, putting an added burden on the statewide energy grid.
The California System Operator, (CAISO) has issued a Flex Alert warning asking all Californians to reduce energy usage, especially during the peak hours of 3pm to 6pm.
LMUD customers can help lessen the load on Californiaās electric grid by observing these easy to follow tips:
- Set your air conditioner thermostat to 78 degrees.
- Use a ceiling fan or other fans to cool your home.
- Turn your water heater down to 120 degrees.
- Avoid using appliances such as your dishwasher, clothes washer and dryer until after 7pm.
- Keep windows and doors closed to prevent the loss of cool air.
“As of this time, LMUD has not experienced any heat related outages,” said Theresa Phillips, Energy Services Manager for the utility district, “If you do experience an outage, low-voltage problems, or flickering or dimming lights, please contact LMUD immediately at our 24 hour customer service line, 530-257-4174.”
