The Almanor Ranger District Campground clean-up is underway now that the snow is finally starting to melt. The District staff, which includes recreation, timber, and fire are hard at work cutting trees, raking needles and performing other task as part of their efforts to get the campgrounds open.
“Due to significantly above average snowfall this winter, hazard mitigations, and the potential for more storm damage, some campgrounds are tentatively scheduled to open later than expected this year,” said Acting Forest Supervisor Chris Christofferson.
Listed below are the tentative opening dates for the Almanor Ranger District Campgrounds.
April 26th Potato Patch and Alder
May 10th Elam and Canyon Dam
May 24th Butte Meadows, Cherry Hill, Battle Creek, Legacy, Almanor Boat Ramp, Almanor South, Almanor Group and Picnic
June 7th Elam Day Use, Almanor North, Almanor Beach, and Dyer View
June 14th Gurnsey, Hole in the Ground, Brokenshire, Soldier Meadows, High Bridge, Warner, Domingo Springs
June 28th Silver Lake Area Campgrounds and Facilities, Echo Lake, Willow Lake, Caribou Wilderness Trailheads, and Locherman Canyon
