Lassen National Forest Lifts Fire Restrictions Today

3

Lassen National Forest officials have lifted fire restrictions as of Friday, October 7th, 2016.

This means that forest visitors may once again have campfires outside of developed campgrounds and recreation sites, although campfire permits are still required. Fire officials remind forest visitors to keep campfires small and be sure they are completely dead and cold to the touch before leaving camp.

The lifting of restrictions also rescinds the “hoot owl” provision, which means chainsaws no longer have a 1:00p.m. shutdown time and may now be used all day on Lassen National Forest lands.

Woodcutters must still have valid woodcutting permits and tags, and their chainsaws must be equipped with spark arresters.
