The Lassen National Forest Service has hired Mark Gaston to be the organization’s Public Affairs Officer according to details released by the agency Friday.
“Mark is a great addition to our team,” said Acting Forest Supervisor, Chris Christofferson. “He has a strong communications background with over 20 years of Public Affairs experience in the Federal Government.”
Prior to coming to the Lassen, he worked for the National Indian Gaming Commission as a Communication Specialist. In this position, he was responsible for managing several of the NIGC’s Public Affairs programs.
He has worked for the Department of the Navy at the Defense Printing Service and the Naval Council of Personnel Boards.
“I am honored to serve as the Forest Public Affairs Officer. I look forward to serving and working with our leadership, staff, partners and the local community to continue the mission, principles, and priorities of the Lassen and the U.S Forest Service,” said Gaston.
He earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration from the University of District of Columbia. Gaston was born and raised in Washington, D.C. and is married with four children.
