Lassen County Superintendent of Schools Patty Gunderson recently traveled to Washington, D.C. to participate in Advocacy Week alongside county superintendents from across California.
Serving as Small County Caucus Chair, Patty met with federal representatives and staff to elevate issues impacting rural schools, including special education funding, Medicaid reimbursement, education technology and the future of Secure Rural Schools funding.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to travel to Washington, D.C. to advocate for California’s students and thank our legislators for their ongoing support,” said Gunderson.
“Representing all 58 counties through the California County Superintendents advocacy group, we’re focused on key priorities like full funding for IDEA, continued Medicaid reimbursements for school-based services, and strong support for Secure Rural Schools and E-Rate. These programs make a real difference, especially for rural communities, and help ensure students have the resources they need to succeed. I’m proud to work alongside my colleagues to represent rural California and appreciate the chance to help lead this effort.”
