Forty-six students from Lassen High’s chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America organization traveled to Anaheim April 11th, to take part in the annual State Leadership Conference.
Held each spring, this year the conference included more than 2,500 students from across the state.
The group from Lassen, according to Advisor Dawn Egan, is the largest local contingent to ever qualify for the state finals.
Students attend the conference to elect state leadership and conduct state business.
They also experience leadership and career development training, and engage in statewide competitions to determine who will represent California in national competitions.
Katelyn Kirack was awarded 2nd place and qualified for the national competition with her Job Interview skills.
Susanville standouts Tucker Schall and Taylor McElhaney did a scholarship interview, ranked top-five in the state, and each received $750.
Lily Ammon placed 8th in the Impromptu Speaking competition.
Both the Broadcast Journalism team, comprised of Kawika Hathaway, Gavin Grady and Aidan Baldwin and the Sales Presentation team of Patrick Mattingly and Gianna Hooker were in the top twelve.
The Natonal FBLA competition will be held in late June in Orlando, Florida.
