Friday afternoon, at around 4:00, the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call reporting an accidental shooting at the Lassen County Superior Court on Riverside Drive.
Upon arrival at the courthouse, Sheriff’s Office personnel discovered an injured law enforcement officer who had sustained a non-life-threatening leg injury as a result of an accidental gunshot wound.
The injured officer was transported to a hospital outside of the area for medical treatment.
The case is currently under investigation and the LCSO has made assurances that there is no current threat to public safety.
The Lassen County Superior Court is expected to resume its normal operational schedule this morning.
