LCC Board Unanimously Chooses Carie Camacho for College President

Lassen College’s new President, Carie Camacho

The Lassen Community College Board, after coming out of Closed Session at their January 14th, Regular meeting, announced the selection of Carie Camacho to be the district’s Superintendent/President. Camacho has served in the position on an interim basis for the last two and a half years.

Camacho, who was unanimously chosen by the board, has served at Lassen College for 27 years – beginning her college career at Lassen prior to transferring to Chico State to complete her BA in Sociology, followed by her Masters in Counseling from the University of LaVerne.

Camacho has spent her career educating students at the community college level, having served as an Academic, Veterans, Athletic, and Career Counselor, along with teaching Sociology.

As an administrator she held the position of Interim Dean of Academic Services, Chief Instructional Officer, Interim Vice President of Academic Services, Chief Instructional Officer and Interim Superintendent/President.

“I feel very fortunate to have spent my career at Lassen College working with the students in our area,” Camacho said.

“I am very excited to continue the great student-focused work we have accomplished these past couple of years. It’s truly an exciting time for students and staff as the College celebrates its 100 Year Anniversary.”

Camacho and her husband, Kase, a teacher and life-long resident of Susanville, say that they enjoy participating in many activities in our local community and support athletics both at the high school and the college levels. Their daughter, Maddie, is in her last year of law school at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon.
