LCOE Hosts 4th Annual Career Opportunity and Skills Day for County Students

More than 600 high school students from throughout Lassen County gathered at Lassen High School on Tuesday for the 4th Annual Career Opportunity and Skills Day. The event, hosted by the Lassen County Office of Education, has become a cornerstone for local students looking to bridge the gap between the classroom and the workforce.

The event, which originally began in partnership with Lassen County District 5 Supervisor Jason Ingram and is now an established annual LCOE program, featured more than 30 local and regional employers. Students were given the chance to get hands-on experience and direct exposure to a diverse range of career pathways, including skilled trades, public service and healthcare.

“This continues to be one of the highlights of our year,” said Patricia Gunderson, Lassen County Superintendent of Schools. “It truly reflects the strength of our community when we come together to support and invest in the future of our students.”

Throughout the day, professionals were on hand to mentor students and demonstrate the specific skills, training, and education required for various fields. The interactive format allowed students to ask questions and explore local opportunities they may not have previously considered.

The LCOE expressed its gratitude to the local employers and community partners who volunteered their time to share insights and inspire the next generation of Lassen County’s workforce. According to the LCOE, the dedication of these partners is vital in preparing students for success once they graduate.
