Lassen High School’s Drumline is gearing up for a once-in-a-lifetime performance opportunity – performing at Disneyland on March 18th! Accepted into the prestigious Disney Imagination Campus program, the Drumline will march down one of the most iconic parade routes in the world.
Since being accepted the performers have been tasked with raising the money to pay for transportation, hotel rooms and better uniforms. There are several ways you can help the young percussionists get to the Magic Kingdom, including this link to a GoFundMe account setup for the drumline.
Several local business folks and private individuals have stepped up and made contributions to help get the kids to Disney. Mark Zaengle from Zaengles Home and Floor, Marty Heath from Western Nevada Supply, Brian Wilson State Farm Insurance, Kasey Christenson DVM, Cal-West Fire Alarm Services, Plumas Bank, Hat Creek Construction, Susanville Dental Care, Rotary, Comfort Inn and Suites and City Councilman Curtis Bortle have all made major contributions.
“The community is really coming together in a way I would never have expected,” says Drumline Director Ben Wade. “It’s truly heartwarming to see people supporting the arts in a big way.”
This Thursday evening, February 27th, at 6:00 the LHS Drumline will be presenting a special performance in the high school’s gym. Ticket’s are $10 each and include not only the concert, but a baked potato dinner and a silent auction and raffle.
You can pick up tickets at Margie’s Book Nook and through VENMO – just show your reciept at the door.
The Drumline will also hold a bake sale at Safeway, in the Sierra Shopping Center, March 1st from 10:00a.m. until 2:00p.m.
