An opportunity to manage Lassen County’s only certified farmer’s market is now available through the Lassen Land and Trails Trust in Susanville.
“This is a great opportunity for someone with strong knowledge of local agriculture and communities and marketing skills to promote the farmer’s market,” said Jeff Fontana, chair of the Trust’s Community Outreach Committee. “Our manager is responsible for getting the market organized during the late winter and spring and then managing the market that runs every Saturday from June 6th through the last Saturday in September.”
The market manager is responsible for working with vendors before, during and after the market, for publicizing the market using various traditional media and social media tools and for coordinating volunteer support. Click here to download a complete job description.
Those interested should submit a resume and cover letter by Saturday, January 31st, to: Lassen Land and Trails Trust, P. O. Box 1461, Susanville, CA 96130, or by email to: [email protected].
The farmer’s market just completed its 20th season at the Historic Susanville Railroad Depot on Richmond Road. Its certification from the California Department of Food and Agriculture means that consumers are purchasing foods directly from the farmers and ranchers who grew or produced the products.
During most seasons the local market features about 20 vendors from Lassen County and surrounding areas. Fruits, vegetables, meats and prepared foods ranging from pies to tamales are usually available along with crafts from local artisans. Music and information presentations are often part of the market, as well.
