OUTAGE UPDATE: LMUD crews have restored power to Eagle’s Nest, the Youth Camp, the Marina, Merrill and Christie Campgrounds and Ronald McDonald House. A handful of other customers have also been energized. However, Spaulding, Stones, Bucks Bay and Grasshopper are still without power at this time.

Lassen Municipal Utility District announced this afternoon that crews have not yet been able to fully assess the damage to the LMUD Eagle Lake line caused by the 14,000-acre Whaleback fire burning near Spalding Tract.
The electrical transmission line serving the lake is in extremely treacherous terrain and it is currently unsafe for crews to patrol the line.
LMUD is working with the US Forest Service and the Lassen County Office of Emergency Services to formulate a plan that will allow the utility to safely provide electricity to the lake.
“However, at this time,” explains LMUD Public Relations Manager Theresa Phillips, “we do not have solid details and there is no estimated time of restoration.”
Phillips urges residents in the affected area to prepare for an extended outage.
“We thank you for your patience and understanding as we determine the quickest and safest way to re-energize our Eagle Lake customers.”
