

Bicycle Safety Rodeo Winners

The Susanville Finals in the Bicycle Safety Rodeo were held Saturday, May 4, at McKinley School with the three top winners receiving belt buckles and advancing to the county-wide finals June 1. The three top finishers from left are Julie Theiler, first, 173 points, Diamond View; Danny Baston, second, 172, McKinley, and Jeff Cummings, third, 171, McKinley.
Saturdayās competition involved the top 10 finishers from each of the Susanville schools, Diamond View, Washington and McKinley in preliminary testing held at the three schools different times during the last two weeks.
Points during Saturdayās Susanville Finals were given for equipment inspection and various bicycling skills such as balance test, figure eight, pedaling and brakeing, maneuvering circle, obstacle course, emergency stops, direction change, turning around and signaling.
Those who finished in the top 10 in preliminary testing and who were eligible to compete in last Saturdayās Susanville finals included the following:
Diamond View ā Brad Farrington, Jody Roop, Donald Ray, Greg Myers, Julie Theiler, Peter Harris, Gene Chittock Jr., John Jennedy, George Kennedy and Bryan Kingston.
McKinley ā Greg Highnote, Jeff Cummings, Larry Spears, Danny Baston, Ross Harrell, Margaret Marrs, Michelle Craig, Aaron Grooms, Rory Maline, Jim Cavan and Jim Cameron.
Washington ā Patty Munter, Karen Dieter, Sandy McPherson, Cathy Rieger, Brenda Aja, Brenda Vetter, Dean Hart, Dale Sell, Michelle Bosta and Eric Johnson.
