Dugout Destroyed by Fire

DUGOUT DESTROYED BY FIRE—Scott Surian, Neal Beckett and Gilbert Pasqua of the Tiger’s Little League Team examine the baseball dugout at the Little League Park in Susanville burned Saturday, May 27.
The team members would have played their game against the Cubs Tuesday, May 30, using the dugout had vandals not set it afire. Two motorized units and 10 firemen responded to the blaze Saturday.
Susanville Parks and Recreations Director Dwayne Whitelaw called the dugout, “a total loss” but said city insurance should cover its immediate replacement. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Susanville Fire Department.
The city has a $200 reward for information leading to the conviction of vandals of city-owned property (Advocate photo).
