Wingfield Ranch Promoter Arrested As Embezzler

Alleged to have embezzled $32,000 during the promotion of a ranch transaction here. J. E. Hoskins is under arrest at Meeker, Colo., Sheriff Olin S. Johnson announced Thursday.
Bail on the charge was set Thursday by Justice of the Peace Seymour Case at $10,000 and extradition proceedings will be started by the Lassen County authorities.
Sheriff Johnson said that Hoskins is accused of diverting the $32,000 during the promotion of the George Wingfield ranch eight miles southeast of Susanville into an exclusive dude ranch.
The sheriff said that Hoskins had claimed to have operated such ranches in Colorado and New Mexico.
