Snow Delays Lassen Logging
April 16, 1952

The Fruit Growers Supply Co. has plowed a logging road as far as Pine creek around the west side of Eagle lake and to Camp 10 beyond Summit camp.

About three feet of snow was encountered at Camp 10, although there is much water in the area and the pack is melting rapidly. Pine creek is flooding and has washed out the bridge.

Further snow removed depends on decisions as to where the best place would be to get the logs out. Fallers will be sent in only after it is determined which will dry out first.

The sawmill is continuing on its two-rig basis until estimates can be made concerning the start of logging.

“We’re about six weeks late all along the line,” commented a company spokesman.
