LMUD Presents: This Day in Susanville History – April 30, 1913

Line Nears Susanville
Town of Litchfield is Reached by Fernley & Lassen
April 30, 1913

The track laying crew and outfit of the Fernley and Lassen railroad have reached the new town of Litchfield, eighteen miles from this city.

The new crew will be delayed a week at Litchfield on account of the driving of piles for a distance of 700 feet in Willow’ creek and building the bridge.

The Davis hill, four and a half miles east of Susanville, will be cut down by the time the tracklaying crew reaches that point. It is almost certain that rails will be laid into Susanville early in May.
