

SMA Holler Dollar Auction Held Saturday

ITEMS AUCTIONED — More than $200,000 in Hollar Dollars were spent by Lassen County residents at an auction held Saturday, March 30th, in the Lassen High Gym.
The event was sponsored by the Susanville Merchants Association whose 20 participating members contributed more than $2,000 in prizes. The Hollar Dollars were accumulated by bidders who made purchases at the participating stores during the past two months.
An electric freezer costing $395 drew the highest bid of the auction. Patty Jones of Susanville bought the freezer for $24,000 in Hollar Dollars.
A 12-inch portable television costing $89.95 went for $21,000 Hollar Dollars and a hind quarter of beef costing $125 was bought with $11,000 in Hollar Dollar money.
In addition to the auctioned prizes, there were 40 free door prizes of SMA gift certificates given away.
