Thousands Watch Parade on Saturday Morning

Thousands lined Main Street for Saturday’s colorful Lassen County Fair parade led out by Grand Marshall Jim Bronson of Susanville.
Behind him came 150 entries that included the music of long-time favorites, the Reno Municipal Band and an excellent Lassen High School band put together by director, Ray Craig.
The whine of bagpipes of the first place Sierra Highlanders Bagpipe Band of Sparks joined the shine of palomino horses and silver mounted saddles of the outstanding Alameda County Mounted Sheriff’s Posse and the Nevada State Governor’s Mounted Honor Guard captained by Don LeVerse of Carson City.
On hand were the royalty from two neighboring fairs, Modoc District Fair Queen Shelley Flournoy and her princesses, Denise Clement and Nancy Flournoy from Cedarville and Intermountain Fair Queen Mary Harper and princesses, Tracy Nemanic and Peggy Perkins from McArthur.
Lassen County Junior Rodeo Queen Darlene Miller and princesses, Patsy Vasso and Glenda Wemple, official hostesses for the fair, rode aboard a green and yellow old time wagon pulled by a pair of blue roan work horses provided by the Lassen County Cattlemen’s Association.
