Mrs. Corder Made Honorary Marshal

Mrs. Ted Corder, of Susanville, former Mrs. Buck Jones, was appointed an honorary marshal as the result of her participation in the mammoth sixth war loan inaugural parade “Cavalcade of the West’ held November 18 in Los Angeles.
Credited with being the most effective entry in the parade, which ran over three hours and included top western motion picture stars, riders and 7,000 horses, was the “Empty Saddle Entry.”
The three well known horses belonging to the three late great stars, Buck Jones, Will Rogers and Tom Mix, “Silver,” “Soapsuds,” and “Tony,” carried the empty saddles of their late masters.
The horses led by Legionnaires of World War I, marched to the strains of the music “Empty Saddles.”
Mrs. Corder took, “Buck’s silver mounted saddle, worth several thousands of dollars, to Los Angeles for this event, and sat in the reception stand with Washington and Hollywood notables.
Following the parade, the former Mrs. Buck Jones, along with such western favorites as Errol Flynn, Roy Rogers and William Boyd, signed their autographs for all bond purchasers.
