Bowling Alleys Plan Opening in Susanville Soon
December 2, 1939

With work near completion on the bowling alley at the old Orpheum building on Main Street, Susanville will have an added recreational center to add to its list of places of entertainment.

The management of the new alley announced today that the alleys would probably be ready for play between Christmas and New Years and possibly sooner.

Four modern alleys, constructed by Brunswick company, well-known makers of alleys, will assure maximum efficiency in the new sport. Automatic pinsetters have been installed for quick service of all patrons.

C. W. Nichols of Reno, who has had extensive experience in the building of alleys, has financed the installation of the alleys and C. E. Bixler will manage the alleys for Nichols. Every attention is being given to the installation to ensure the public of a pleasant place to spend an evening and get a little exercise and recreation.

Bixler announced that arrangements were being made now for the installation of facilities to sell candies, cigarettes and soft drinks.
