Christmas Seals Donations Encouraged
December 3, 1976

CHRISTMAS SEALS DONATIONS ENCOURAGED – Susanville Mayor Jim Chapman, right, and Bill Dixon, chairman of the Lung Association in Lassen County, are pictured above with a proclamation designating the week of November 29 through December 5 as Christmas Seal Week in Susanville.

Chapman and Dixon urge local residents to give donations to the charity when they receive Christmas Seals in the mail soon.

The Christmas Seal campaign is now in its 70th year and will run through December to raise funds for the Lung Association’s year-round programs to fight lung diseases and their causes.

The organization hopes to raise around $80,000 this year, through contributions received for the Christmas Seals which are used to seal Christmas envelopes, to provide services for the 11 counties in our Northern California region.

It is estimated that more than 1,500,000 Californians suffer lung conditions such as emphysema, asthma, chronic bronchitis and tuberculosis. (Advocate photo).
