Susanville Street Crews Work to Clear Snow
December 30, 1979
DIGGING OUT — Susanville Public Works Department street crews have been using all of the city’s heavy equipment to clear city streets of the eight-inch snowfall which occurred last weekend.
Graders have been used to plow snow to the centers of roads and front-end loaders and dump trucks have been hauling the snow out of town.
Some problems had been reported with mail delivery to unplowed areas, but normal mail delivery has been resumed, according to postal officials.
Public Works Director Mario Vial reports about 50 percent of the streets have been cleared.
He said the biggest problem has been cars parked along curbs, hindering plowing equipment and said crews would appreciate local residents moving cars off the street where possible.
“We’ve had a lot of help from people who have moved their cars and we really appreciate that,” he said. (Advocate photo).
