Elks Lodge Makes Shipment
December 5, 1971

SUSANVILLE ELKS LODGE 1487 recently collected 11,400 lbs. of used books, paperbacks and used appliances for shipment to Veterans Hospitals throughout California.

From left, Paul Wemple, Ivor Lanigar and Bob Wagner are shown preparing the 155 boxes for shipment.

The Elks Lodge has been making shipments to Veterans Hospitals for 35 years and have included such items as shoes, deer hides, electric razors, radios, phonographs, steam irons and other items for use of handicapped veterans in their therapy programs.

The latest shipment was the largest ever made by the local lodge.

The project is a continuous one for Elks and anyone having any books or appliances to donate may contact the Elks Lodge to arrange for pick up. (Eastman’s Studio photo).
