City Police Judge in Susanville Resigns
December 8, 1947
After 35 years as the city police judge in Susanville, M. R. Arnold has turned in his resignation to the city clerk.
Arnold said, “The work takes too much time now that the city has expanded. It should be a full-time job. Susanville has put on long skirts and, with the ‘new look,’ it takes more time than I have to offer.”
A graduate of the University of Southern California, Arnold has been teaching in the local high school for many years and is the vice principal.
In addition to his faculty duties, he is a United States Commissioner and holds court in Herlong two days a week. The resignation will become effective Monday at midnight.
