High School Band Leaves for Fair Today
February 13, 1939

The Lassen Union High School band, which is the official band for the Shasta Cascade Wonderland at the opening of the exposition in San Francisco, is leaving Friday morning, at 9:00. At present the band is planning on staying at the Drake Wiltshire hotel in San Francisco.

The band will play at two concerts at the exposition Friday and will also play in the parade at the opening of the fair. This is the first year that the band has made any showing and it is a great honor for them to be chosen the official band for the Shasta Cascade Wonderland.

A great deal of credit belongs to Guilbert DuMont, who is the director of the band.

Along with seeing the exposition Mr. Blacow, who is on charge of the trip, is arranging for several sight seeing trips of educational value. On the trip home they are planning on touring the peninsula and driving through Stanford.

The band has new uniforms for the occasion. They are navy blue skirts and trousers with navy blue sweaters with the school emblem on the front. The three drum majorettes will wear white skirts and white sweaters with emblems on the front.
